Accepting Myself 💕

Hey Loves,

This week I want us to practice acceptance of ourselves. This post is one of the realist ones I have written. I feel it’s time to.

This is me in 2011 at the age of 21.

You wouldn’t know it but I am struggling with body acceptance in this photo. I thought I was fat. I thought I was ugly. I wouldn’t never have my hair natural it had to be permed and blown silky straight.

Now this is the most recent full body photo I have. This was September 2017 at the age of 27.

This photo I am still struggling with body acceptance. I let go of some misconceptions I had about myself. I LOVE my natural hair. I don’t ever have it straightened unless I feel like it. I struggle to see the beauty in myself at times.

I struggle with acceptance of my body. Growing up it was hard. I fully believe loving oneself starts at home where your more comfortable with family. It was not like that for me. I was more developed up top than most girls. My mother would always bring that to my attention and put me down for it like I could control my genetics. She would buy me big shirts to

hide my breast and make me where them. I had to listen to negative comments about myself and my weight. Hearing negative thoughts all your childhood has great impact on who your are in your adulthood.

I’m at a age where I can’t blame my mother for it any longer. I understand it’s time for me to accept me for me. But it’s so damn hard.

Today I want to encourage men and woman to love you for you. I know it’s not easy but start small. Here’s some tips I suggest:

  1. Have your friends text you encouraging words everyday.
  2. Download Pinterest and find uplifting and encouraging wallpapers for your phone that you like.
  3. Have a mirror and a dry erase marker? If you do, write some encouraging words to yourself.
  4. Have post it’s and a sharpie? Leave stickies in hidden places so you can find them randomly.

Gabby quote is so inspiring. It’s time we love our bodies💜

One day I had to sit down with myself and decide that I loved myself no matter what my body looked like and what other people thought about my body. I got tired of hating myself. < em> -Gabourey Sidibe Let’s begin the journey of self acceptance together. It’s going to rough road but I am ready. Are You?!?

XoXo 😘,

Friday’s Inspiration

I’m one of those people that always compare my life to someone’s else. I do it all the time. Especially now that I will be turning 27 on Tuesday so I’m comparing my life to others around me.

I have to constantly remind myself that God has a plan for my life.  It may not be what I want but it’s what he wants.
To anyone struggling with this. Take it one day out a time. Don’t compare your life to others. Know that God has something amazing instore for your life.

XoXo,

Ebony Monae

This is Your Life, Own It💖

Mawning  loves. It’s a rainy Wednesday here in NY but I’m thankful and blessed. I hope my post finds you guys in a good mood this morning. If not I hope my post cheers you up<3.

This quote above describes what I kind of been feeling lately. It reminded me my life was own personally story. I’m learning to write my story for me. For a few days now I was in that stage where I’m just lost in the abyss not knowing what direction to take in life. I had to realize it’s my life. I can take any direction in life I want to. I can edit and remove anything I want to.

I always get like this when I see a friend getting married or having a child. I have to understand that my life can’t take that on right now. I have to trust my choices and trust my story.

If your going through this in your life, understand it’s your life. People you know are at different places in life, but so are you. It’s okay to make mistakes and take wrong turns it’s life. Trust your story your writing.

Love One Another💗

Good morning my beauties.  Hope my post finds you well this morning.

This post is for my beautiful woman of color. To all the black woman out there let’s support each other. Gabby Douglas has won gold again for gymnastics but what we talk about is her hair? Not her incredible achievements but her damn hair. Like who does that? Let’s stop with the nasty remarks. Let’s stop with the belittling. Let’s stop with he name calling. Let’s give credit where credit is due. Thank you Gabby and Simone for telling a little black girl that gold is possible in a sport that’s dominated by white people. Thank you for not giving up when others have put you down💜

Further more I hate turning on the tv and seeing us black woman beat each other down. I’m constantly seeing woman fighting and belittling each other. What happened to compassion and kindness. Reality TV really showcases us woman in bad light. I absolutely hate that. We are educated and strong woman but that’s not showcased at all.

I remember a conversation I was having with my friend. She was telling me how a girl got her butt done and it looks bad and this and that. I said and I quote “if she loves it that’s all that matters. Who am I to judge? Secondly I’m tired of us black woman bringing each other down.” I stand by my words. If you got your butt, nose or face done I’m happy for you. Whether it looks good or bad, I’m happy for you.

This morning let’s be nice to one another. Let’s support and uplift each other. Being a black woman is hard enough as it is. Let’s not add to that burden.

Ebony💞

Black Lives Matter✊🏾✊🏾

Everyone had something to say after his speech. People didn’t like it calling it hate speech on cops. Then last week two black men where killed by police officers and it was  gruesomely recorded for the world to see.

I saw this speech live the moment I heard it, it gave me goosebumps because everything he said was true.

No one knows what it’s like to be black in this country. Before  mothers was scared to let there black son’s walk out the house. Now mothers are scared to let there daughters and sons walk out the house. Never have I been scared to be black. Growing up I would hear stores from my grandmother who grew up in the south during Jim Crow. In 2016 my generation is going through the same thing her generation went through.

It’s time that we take a stand. Even if we have to get arrested. It time we take a stand. Put you actions where your mouth is. We have to have a country that treats us with dignity and respect.

We didn’t ask for this. We didn’t ask to be murdered so carelessly. I have seen people treat a gorilla with more dignity than a black person. No longer will I be silent. Together we can make a difference peacefully. Together we can make a change.

Black and Proud✊🏾

Happy Birthday Beautiful💜

Miss Honesty Rose🌹

Honesty you mean so much to me. The love I have for you transcends time. I can’t even put it in to words. I love you with every fiber of my being. So this this letter is for you to look back on when life gets hard and when I’m no longer around.

Dear Honesty,

I love  you very much. Seeing you the first few hours you were born into this world I knew in my 💜 you were going to be something great. You were so tiny when I first laid eyes on you but you were a strong little thing. A fighter. You were born five weeks early but that didn’t stop you. It has been an honor to watch you grow, laugh, and learn. Remember to keep God close to your heart. He will always be there for you. You are his greatest creation never forget that.

Honesty as you get older you will learn that life will knock you down. You will see friends come and go. You will have boys break your heart. In life there will be dark moments but  there will always be beautiful moments. These moments are what we live for. These moments are what makes life worth living.

Honesty you will make mistakes in your life. If you didn’t you would not be living life. To truly grow and mature you have to learn from these mistakes. Remember a mistake is something you do once or twice, if it becomes more it is not a mistake it is an habit. Acknowledging ones mistakes also makes them the bigger person. With that being said don’t forget to say sorry when you are wrong.

Don’t look back and regret life my love. Enjoy it, LIVE IT. Do whatever you want to do with your life. Baby girl don’t let anyone ever tell you the sky is the limit because there are footprints on the moon. Shoot for the moon and stars. Grab life by the horns and keep on pushing. If you fall remember I will always be there to help you stand up again. I will always be here to guide you.

Life has a way of changing at a drop of a dime Honesty but remember when it does go with the changes, I know its easier to hang on to the past but embrace the change. God knows the plan he has for your life.

Always follow your heart because it can lead you on amazing journeys. I can not wait to see what God has in store for you. I love you so very much. Don’t ever forget that💜

Love Always and Forever,

Auntie💜

Continue To Climb!

Good Morning, it’s a beautiful day in New York Today. So I’m enjoying the sunshine.

Today’s post actually shows the picture of my Graduation Cap.

The best view comes after the hardest climb.

This quote described what I went through during my last year of obtaining my undergraduate degree. I was plaqued with health problems and faced financially diffculties.  It was hard. I was depressed. I felt like at the age of 25 that my life was over. I kept asking God why are these health problems happening to me?  It was one of the most difficult times in my life.

In the end I overcame it all because I got to walk across that stage on Sunday. My family was cheering me on from the sidelines. They were my biggest supporters. When I doubted myself they were there to remind me that if I put my mind to it I will achieve greatness

My thoughts to you on this morning. Is continue to climb. It may be hard right now. You may feel like giving up. You may feel all alone. Don’t give up. Keep climbing. Your not alone. God is always by your side right along with your amazing support system.

Achieving Greatness,

Ask for it, Then Go GET It!

Good Mawning!!!

It’s a rainy Tuesday here in NY. I absolutely hate the rain. It just makes me dreary and sleepy but, I still get up thank God and grind.

This quote above was also sent to me for my graduation cap and like the last it was not used. I love me some Oprah. She is so inspirational. She’s empowering and uplifting to other woman.

Life? Hmm. Let me tell you what I think about life. It’s that we only get one. If you want something have the courage to ASK for it and PURSUE it. Follow your dreams. Do what YOU👆love to do. I ask God everyday to give me strength and courage. You know why? Because it’s hard to have courage to do these things. It’s hard believing in yourself when others have repeatedly told you that you wouldn’t make it. Putting yourself out there is extremely hard but with God all things are possible. So take Oprahs advice and have the courage to ask for what you want. Then; Darling you go get it!!

Blessed,

Ebony Monae

🌻Here’s To The Free Spirit In All Of Us🌻

Ever wondered what a free spirit is? Well that’s the definition above. How many of us can relate to that? I know I can. For a long time I just assumed I didn’t fit in. I came to realize that I was not born to. Once I begin accepting me for me no one could tell me anything. I love myself. I’m comfortable in my own skin.
Let out your free spirit. Don’t let society’s opinions hinder your beliefs or values. BE YOU!! Once we stop caring of others opinions we will be free to live the life we want.

Have a great day my loves. Break the mold. Be free. BE YOU!

Go Be It!

Decide what to be and go be it!!

I just love this. It’s actually a lyric from the Avett Brothers song “head full of doubt”. A couple of months ago my best friend showed me this quote. It is the quote that got our favorite author Colleen Hoover to begin writing full time and just look at her now. She’s selling books all over the world.

My point is reflect on your life. If you want to do something go do it! Don’t let fear or doubt hold you back. Don’t let other people’s opinions hold you back. We are not promised tomorrow. If your unhappy then go do what you want to do with your life. Take a chance on you💙

As for myself. I’m going to start a vlog. It’s something I have always wanted to do but I was scared to do it. Why? Because I didn’t think I was good enough. There is so many vlogs out there that’s amazing and I thought to myself what can little ole me do? I’m going to do it. If I let my insecurities get the best of me then they will continue to get the best of me.

Going To Be Great,

Ebony Monae💜
