Face Your True North

Cheers to having a blessed and prosperous Monday.

It took me a while to understand that I AM NOT FOR EVERYONE. This message really spoke to me. Reminded me that everyone won’t like and that’s okay. Everyone won’t love you and that’s okay too. What’s not okay is keeping them around. So here’s the message :

Did you read it?!? I know it’s a little long BUT how I loved it. I mentioned in a previous post that I went back to someone who I know didn’t love me but I loved them. Well this explains don’t do it. Continue on a path of purpose and fulfillment.

You are not for them and they are not for you!

How I loved that sentence. Don’t waste your time on someone who YOU know is not worth even an ounce of you. Keep on in the right direction.

I hope this message helps you in ways it did me.

Black Lives Matter✊🏾✊🏾

Everyone had something to say after his speech. People didn’t like it calling it hate speech on cops. Then last week two black men where killed by police officers and it was  gruesomely recorded for the world to see.

I saw this speech live the moment I heard it, it gave me goosebumps because everything he said was true.

No one knows what it’s like to be black in this country. Before  mothers was scared to let there black son’s walk out the house. Now mothers are scared to let there daughters and sons walk out the house. Never have I been scared to be black. Growing up I would hear stores from my grandmother who grew up in the south during Jim Crow. In 2016 my generation is going through the same thing her generation went through.

It’s time that we take a stand. Even if we have to get arrested. It time we take a stand. Put you actions where your mouth is. We have to have a country that treats us with dignity and respect.

We didn’t ask for this. We didn’t ask to be murdered so carelessly. I have seen people treat a gorilla with more dignity than a black person. No longer will I be silent. Together we can make a difference peacefully. Together we can make a change.

Black and Proud✊🏾

Take A Risk With Your Life!

Happy Monday💜

Over the weekend we lost a great man. Mohammed Ali. He was a remarkable man. He stood by what he believed in and he never changed who he was. He also never gave up.

Today I want to write a post about one of his famous quotes.

The quote above really spoke to me. Take risk in your life. Life is such a beautiful thing. It’s a blessing to be able to live. I am one of the many people that stuggle with taking risks. I am a person that loves my comfort zone. If we continue to stay in our comfort zone we will not accomplish much in our lives.

Take a risk in with your life. Do something that your scared to do. Have that faith in yourself and just leap. If you fail at least you know that you tried. Trying is better than regret.

Being Courageous,

Ebony Monae

Have the courage to take the risk. Be bold, be fierce and don’t let fear stop you.

Extremely Saddened😔

This breaks my heart to see this. I don’t know what made her do something like this to herself. My heart goes out to any woman or man that can’t not accept the skin they are in. Trust me I was there.

I know what it’s like to hate the skin color your in. I used to be bullied for being dark skinned. Thinking of it now is bringing me to tears. Kids were mean and cruel. I remember using cream lightners on my skin. Especially in my cheeks areas. Before my mother caught on  to what I was doing, I was two different skin tones. This resulting me to be made fun of again.

It’s so important to uplift people. Words of kindness will go farther than words of cruelty. I wish someone told me I was beautiful when I was going through this I my life. At such a young age I was lost and confused. I hated my skin color. I hated my hair. I hated myself.

Now that I’m older and I look back on that time in my life. I am thankfully that I took a journey of self discovery. I’m thankful that I learned to love the skin I’m in. I never understood why God puts you situations until now. I learned from them. I believe my journey was to help others. I had to go through the the pain and self hate to help and understand what others are going through. Now I don’t know if that’s what Lil Kim is going through. I can only guess as to her drastic changes.

Final thoughts, love who you are. Take a journey within yourself. Don’t let other people’s words of hate make you see yourself differently. God designed you with love. Your skin, your hair or what you don’t like about yourself does not define who you are! I have learned that the most beautiful people can be the ugliest. What’s on the inside will always matter.

Made in Gods Image,

Ebony Monae

Take a journey of self discovery it will change you!

Your Uniquely You

This week Affirmation is that your uniquely you. I posted this picture a month or so back. On Friday it applied to my life.

On Friday I posted a picture of myself dressed as a  some would say an hippie. This era to me reflects woman empowerment and how they really wanted change. Anyways that night I received ridicule and was made fun of for my outfit (personally I thought I looked cute). What I am trying to say I was living my life how I saw fit. I was BEING MYSELF. Those words could have changed my whole outlook. I could have let others thoughts define me. In the end I remember the ending of this quote “…live only as YOU can.”  I Understood that my  life was completely mines to do with it what I wanted to. I am living it how you see I fit.

One of the biggest things I want my readers to understand is that life is short. We are not promised tomorrow. With that being said be the person you want to be, live life on your own terms. Last Wednesday I wrote a post about taking a jump in your life. Now I want you to accept who you are. I want you to love the person who you are becoming. You are strong, brilliant, beautiful. I say this mantra to myself everyday. It reminds me where I came from. The girl with so much self hate and turmoil in her life. Everyday is a battle. So I remind myself that I am beautiful and I am enough.

Keep this in mind as you go about the rest of your week. Have fun. Love openly.  Dance, sing or read but do it because you love it. Do it because it makes you happy. You don’t have to dance perfectly or sing on key. Sing and dance because it brings your spirit joy.

Living Life As Only I Can,

Thank You And Happy Birthday!!

Thank You Dr. Martin Luther King. Because of you and others, people of color and other races have come a long way towards equality. You gave us a voice. Growing up my grandmother use to sing you praises. Young me thought why? He’s just another preacher. She sat me down and explained to me that you were more.  You were a vision of hope. She described what life was like growing up in the south. She recalled not facing extreme racism like her brothers and sisters due to her lighter skin tone but she remembered how she felt. She felt worthless.

My grandmother engrained in me to be humble and most of all thankful. Young me wouldn’t understand the significance of her words until later on in my life.

I won’t put you on a pedalstool because like any other human you had flaws. But I will say that you paved the way for young people like me to not have to take a seat in the back of the bus, a right to equal education, the right to be African America in a country when racicm is still much alive.

Your bravery and courage paved the way for a black man to be President of the United States.

It saddens me to see young men and woman forgetting about the people who fought and died for some of the luxuries they have today. It saddens me to see the younger generation putting pop stars as there idols based on looks and the money they flash around.

It breaks my heart to see we have entered an era where young men and woman are dying at the hands of police officers and that our legal system is failing them.  Justice is not being served. It’s time we all stand up for what matters. No longer should we be silent on these matters.
We have a voice and it’s our turn to take up the torch and march forward.

Ebony Monae

Wishing you a very special Birthday in Heaven!!

Love💜 Thy Self💗 First

 My Affirmations for this week!!

Guys it’s 2016! Let’s start loving ourself’s. That’s the most important thing to do for yourself is to LOVE it. I truly and whole heartedly believe you can’t love anyone in this world if you don’t love who you are. Why do I think this you may be wondering. If you don’t love yourself this opens up doors for people to treat you badly. It allows people to put you down, degrade you. People pray on others with no self love. They like that. It empowers them.

Do not give them that power!

The words other say won’t matter because you know who you are!

I want everyone that will read this to look in the mirror and say I Love Me!

Much Love,

Alway remember in this world you come first and it does not make you a bad person to put yourself first.

NOVEMBER 9 Review!!

To all my book lovers it has been a long time since I have did a book review. Last week Colleen Hoover released November 9. I was in Colleen Hoover frenzy last week. LAST WEEK was pretty damn awesome week if I say so myself.  I will write the review then tell you about my awesome week (it all ties in I swear).

Without Further Adieu,

I AM IN LOVE WITH NOVEMBER 9. Colleen you have done it again. I go through so many emotions reading your books. November 9 was a deep read. One minute I am laughing, smiling then I am angry, crying and then back to laughing. It is most defiantly a emotional roller coaster. The twist and turns keep the reader interested.

When you find love, you take it. You grab it with both hands and you do everything in your power not to let it go. You can’t just walk away from it and expect it to linger until you’re ready for it.”
― Colleen HooverNovember 9

This book you had Benton and Fallon. One who wore her scars for the world to see and the other whose scars you couldn’t see. November 9th was a day that neither one would forget. It changed their lives in more ways then they can ever imagine. The beauty of this day was meeting each other and giving it a different meaning. With pain comes healing. They both had to heal from the traumatic events from November 9th. They both had to forgive each other. I think thats the hardest thing to do is forgive someone. I love how you made their love story different. Most books they fall in love over time because they are around each other, here they fall in love by meeting each other on one day every year for four years.

Colleen your an amazing writer. Your words move a person. They speak and inspire me. Thank you for writing such a heartfelt book. Thanks for giving your readers the true meaning of love or “insta love”.

Happy Reading!!!

Guys I literally did the ugly cry when reading this book and my friend has the videos to prove it (no I am not posting it, its UGLY). On a serious matter this book was an amazing read. Colleen writes about things a person would never think could happen. She makes you believe in love again. My heart has been broken to many times and I personally gave up on love. I was destined to be the cat lady.  Thank you Colleen for making me believe in love again.

SO HERE IS MY SURPRISE Drum roll please.

I got to meet COLLEEN HOOVER AND SHE SIGNED MY BOOK. It was an amazing day. My best friend and I got to meet her (Thats my best friend, thats my best friend). Colleen is funny as hell. I am so happy to got the chance to meet her. The audience got to ask her questions and she answered them.  This was my first book signing and it won’t be my last.

See you waited and now you got to read about about my amazing day.

Forever a Book Lover,

💖Time is Precious 💖

Good Morning, hope your Monday is off to a good start. I saw this picture and I loved it. Most mornings we dread getting up wanting that one more hour of sleep, but time is precious so let’s take the time to enjoy. Instead of staying in a few minutes extra wake up instead and look at the sun rise with a nice cup of tea reflect on the day you want to have, be positive, be uplifting to others, be that voice of reason to someone.

86,400 seconds in a day, so why not make everyday a great day? Why not do the things you wish you could do? I encourage all of us to do the things we have been putting off. We are credited each new day, so let’s but that credit to good use.

Enjoy life before it’s gone, someone of us don’t get get too.
